Tutor’s Teaching Background

In the years 2023 and 2024, I had tutored two IGCSE students in Computer Science, as they were facing difficulties grasping the new concepts taught to them in school.  I helped them understand the concepts they were struggling with, such as the programming concepts, including developing pseudocode and flowcharts, and a few theory chapters such as hardware and software. While doing so, I faced some challenges my way. The students couldn't grasp concepts, despite being explained multiple times. To resolve this pertinent issue, I spoke to them and obtained feedback on the understanding gap, understanding where I was lacking in explaining the topics. Upon receiving the feedback, I went to my mother to discuss the problem with her and ask for help, which helped me immensely due to her being a teacher as well. I then worked around the teaching plan and included a few questions to guide them through the process of gaining knowledge and allow ease in comprehending new information. This experience, therefore, allowed me to develop open communication skills and assess the effectiveness of my work and resilience to ensure success in teaching endeavors. Alongside this, I was able to deepen my own understanding of the concepts, helping me have a clearer idea of such foundational topics in the subject.
