Tutor’s Teaching Background

With over 17 years of experience teaching Economics at various academic levels, I have cultivated a deep passion for guiding students towards academic excellence and a genuine appreciation for the subject. I specialize in preparing students for A Level (H1/H2), IB (SL/HL), and IGCSE Economics, as well as University-level Economics and Statistics. My teaching methods are finely tuned to equip students with the tools necessary for success, while also fostering a lasting interest in the subject. My approach is exam-focused, utilizing a structured essay and case study answering framework that empowers students to craft high-quality, well-organized responses. Through the use of past-year exam papers and custom-prepared materials, students receive ample practice, gaining insights into model answers that I personally develop and review with them. This ensures a thorough understanding of both the content and the process of answering exam questions effectively. In addition to academic rigor, I believe in making Economics relevant and engaging by incorporating real-life examples and current events into the lessons. By drawing connections between theory and practice, I help students not only excel in their exams but also appreciate the subject’s application in the world around them. This approach has proven invaluable, as many of my students develop a passion for Economics, with several pursuing it at the university level. A key element of my teaching philosophy is maintaining close communication with my students outside of regular tuition hours. Whether it’s sharing pertinent news articles or answering questions through WhatsApp or Telegram, I strive to create a supportive, ongoing dialogue that enhances the learning experience. I am equally adept at both in-person and online teaching. In my online sessions, I employ interactive techniques such as live diagrammatic drawings and real-time discussions to engage students and clarify complex concepts. For homework, I insist on handwritten submissions to encourage focus, and I provide live feedback during lessons to maximize improvement. The results of my students reflect the effectiveness of this method. Over the years, many of my students have achieved top grades in their exams, including consistent A’s in A Level H1/H2 Economics and high scores in the IB and IGCSE exams.
