Teaching p3-sec2 maths and English Student went from AL3 to scoring 90+/100 in prelims student went to hwa chong (taught pri sch english and math) Student went to rgs (taught pri sch english and math) Student went from just pass to now 66/80 for sec 1 finals Student went from E8 in prelims - B3 for Social Studies ( ad hoc, 2 months only) Student went from C6 in biology (pure) to B3 (O level) in about 4 months. As a part time tutor with 7 years experience in the private and volunteer setting , I am constantly up to date with the latest MOE syllabus and teaching methodology. Most of my students consist of needy children that are unable to afford expensive tuition fees. Though being a rather firm teacher, I am able to shape my learning methods to fit into their unique learning techniques. I have a good teacher-student relationship with my students because I feel that education is not just concepts and definitions; students need to first enjoy classes before they fall in love with the subject to do well. My methods of teaching are tailored according to the needs and levels of the student. For weaker students, I will ensure that the core fundamentals and concepts are grasped by the students before proceeding to subsequent chapters. I personally emphasise a lot on fundamentals as these are the building blocks for scoring well in examinations. For those who are stronger in their concepts, I sieve out more challenging and rigorous questions to further challenge their knowledge of their concepts. I make it a point to encourage my students to make notes of the chapter to express difficult concepts in their own way, to improve memorisation.
