Tutor’s Teaching Background

I have been teaching 1-1 tuition for 4 years beginning in 2024.
Primary 6 English
'JH' - Student from China who needed polishing up English skills before joining Singapore education system. Required explanations of English grammatical and phonological concepts in Chinese. Passed English proficiency exam to enter Sec 1.

Primary 6 Science

'Rae' - Student who did not learn well at tuition centre. Al5-->AL2 for science in 2 months crash course before PSLE
'Jayd' - Student who had issues with memorisation. Through real life examples and demonstrations along with mnemonics, managed to grasp his basics. AL5-->AL2 3 months before PSLE.
'Rayn' - Student who had issues with explanations in open-ended questions, MCQ is ok. Through repeated question solving and question reading techniques, scored AL1 in PSLE from AL3.
'Coral' - Student who required understanding MCQ answering technique. Parents wanted to secure AL1. Already very studious, and cooperative with me. AL2-> AL1 for PSLE.


Style of teaching
I have a set of standardized notes/summaries for all the subjects I teach. Upon a few weeks with the student, I will produce small, personalised sections of these notes to better teach them. Please note that I will ask the parents to print these notes, otherwise I will print and claim the costs. After fundamentals are established, I will explain concepts in detail and have them repeat/practice to show understanding. Last few months before exams, we will do concept revisions and practice papers. I prefer a soft, friendly approach to students so may not be suitable for all tutees.
