Tutor’s Teaching Background

I used to volunteer as an online English tutor for a Ukrainian student with the ENGin program for a little over a year (via Zoom). Additionally, I have achieved a 7 in my International Baccalaureate Higher Level English Language and Literature exams (the equivalent of an A*), and a score of 790 out of 800 on the English section of my SATs. I'm deeply passionate about the English language and I would love the opportunity to accompany a student in English. As a tutor, I would take a patient and adaptive approach incorporating feedback and results, and be committed to seeing the progress of my students. I am also acutely aware of how language skills are developed as I have learnt and taken exams for French and Russian. I have an American accent but I am familiar with the British English used in Singapore's education system, having grown up there myself. I attended Tao Nan Primary School and received an A* in my PSLE English exam, so I am familiar with Singapore's primary school system. If there are any specific areas of improvement e.g. the oral exams, or the reading comprehension, or grammar in general, I would be glad to focus on addressing them first. Otherwise, parents may find it useful to assign a textbook or assessment book that we can work through during our sessions for a more structured approach.
