Tutor’s Teaching Background

I have experience coaching a P6 student from Nanyang Primary School, improving from AL5 (at start of P6) to AL1 in PSLE. Building on the stronger foundation, in Sec 1, this student has started work on Sec 2 material on selected topics. Another P2 student from ACS(P) is currently tackling selected topics at the P3/P4 level, after about 1 year of coaching. I believe in 1-to-1 coaching, to get a deeper understanding of the tutee's strengths and weak points, to develop a customized lesson plan, instead of a one-size-fits-all approach. Besides selected assessment books, I also use past year papers from various primary schools, and reference publications from selected tuition centres. I also try to use other materials like blocks, or Lego, where appropriate, to aid understanding of certain concepts. My approach is also to gamify the learning experience with customized reward cards, game dice, etc to keep the tutee motivated, and maintain interest in the lessons, without the use of digital devices. I have a Master's Degree in Aeronautics from MIT, USA, with an advanced maths background.
